Winter trees and shadows

Bundle up and step outside to appreciate winter in Toronto’s urban wilderness. After gathering at the Tommy Thompson Park Nature Centre, we will explore for winter signs of animals, identify plants as they appear in winter when their flowers can’t guide us, and take in the landscape only winter brings! If you have binoculars, bring them – we’ll keep our eyes open for migratory birds who can only be found at Tommy Thompson Park in the winter months.

We will also showcase amazing hidden features that make Tommy Thompson Park so special, highlighting what we’ve been doing to protect the park against major threats such as Asian Carp species.

This event will run rain or shine, except in the case of extreme weather. If the event needs to be cancelled due to extreme conditions, all registrants will be notified by email the morning of the walk by 7 a.m.

Who is it for?

This event is for both adults interested in learning about the natural world around them, and families wanting to kick off March Break.
The hike will be moderate in difficulty and will travel over uneven surfaces. This event is suitable for adults and children of all ages.
